Travel Plan

Progress meetings will be held approximately every three months, as marked on the timeline. Meetings will be held at Paris, Oxford and Granada, with the final meeting to be held at ESTEC. At least one person from each centre will attend each meeting. At other times, the contractors will communicate primarily through e-mail and the World Wide Web sites established under the contract.

Resources

Based on experience during the current contract we anticipate that the work described above will require at least one year of researcher time at each site. In addition to the current staff, the following will be added to the project. At AOPP, Mr. D.R. Skeet, who is anticipated to have completed his doctoral research by the beginning of the contract extension, will be employed as a post-doctoral research associate to work on the preparation of the new database and documentation and to investigate the extension of the work to Venus. Miss. C.E. Newman will work on aspects of the new dust transport code as part of her doctoral research and will contribute to project meetings. At IAA, Dr. M.A. Lopez-Valverde will compute profiles of heating and cooling rates incorporating non-LTE effects for validation of the model schemes, design and run parameterization of cooling rates and write and contribute to the technical reports where appropriate. Dr. M. Lopez-Puertas will help in the design, validation and intercomparison of the non-LTE parameterization schemes and will contribute to project meetings and technical reports. Ms. C. Roldan will run the full non-LTE model for comparison purposes, in addition to studying potential non-LTE situations in the Venus atmosphere, and will contribute to project meetings.

Resources will therefore be required to cover salaries, a consumables budget for preparation of the deliverables, management and maintenance of the computing facilities for the model experiments, the compilation and dissemination of the new database and a travel budget sufficient to cover attendance at project meetings. The work in the contract extension will be conducted for a firm fixed price of 175kAU.

The proportion of each researcher's time which will be allocated to the project during 1999 is as follows:
